The Air Quality Index (AQI) across several parts of the national capital slipped into the “very poor” to “severe” category, with toxic smog lingering due to calm winds and falling temperatures. Authorities activated low-visibility CAT-III procedures at the airport, but despite this, flight operations remained affected, causing inconvenience to thousands of passengers.
Airlines issued advisories urging travelers to check flight status before leaving for the airport and to expect delays. Road traffic was also impacted as visibility in several areas fell to near zero, increasing the risk of accidents during peak morning hours.
Health officials warned residents—especially children, the elderly, and those with respiratory ailments—to avoid outdoor activities, wear masks, and keep windows closed as pollution levels remain hazardous.
