Jaiprakash Associates to Be Delisted on June 18; Over 6.5 Lakh Shareholders Impacted

Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (JAL) is set to be delisted from both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) effective June 18, 2026, marking the end of its trading journey on Indian stock exchanges.

The company has received final approval from the exchanges following the resolution plan approved by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). The delisting comes as part of the insolvency resolution process, under which the company has been acquired by the Adani Group.

This move is expected to significantly impact nearly 6.5 lakh shareholders, who will no longer be able to trade their shares on the stock exchanges. In most insolvency cases, equity shareholders are last in line for recovery, raising concerns about potential losses for retail investors.

Jaiprakash Associates was once a major infrastructure player in India, but years of mounting debt led to one of the country’s longest-running insolvency proceedings. The delisting now marks the final phase of its restructuring process.

The development highlights the risks associated with investing in highly leveraged companies, especially during insolvency situations where shareholder value can be severely impacted or completely wiped out.
