Goldman Sachs has upgraded its stance on India to “Overweight” and set a target of 29,000 for the Nifty 50 by end-2026, citing expected earnings growth of about 14% for FY26-27.
It noted that India’s equity market has shown its largest under-performance in two decades in US-dollar terms, which the firm views as indicating potential upside.
For investors aiming for alpha (returns above the index), it identified four key themes:
Domestic self-sufficiency (defence, power, renewables)
Mass consumption revival (consumer spending bounce)
New-economy sectors (digital, EVs, internet)
High-growth companies at reasonable valuations (screened 11 stocks with ~31% earnings growth next year)
Goldman Sachs ne India ka outlook “Overweight” kar diya hai aur Nifty ka target 29,000 set kiya hai by end-2026, kyunki FY26-27 me earnings growth lagbhag 14% expect ki ja rahi hai.
Unhone note kiya hai ki India equities ne pichhle 20 saalon me USD terms me sabse badi under-performance dikhayi hai — aur yeh ek upside ka signal ho sakta hai.
Alpha chase karne wale investors ke liye unhone 4 key themes bataye hain:
① Domestic self-sufficiency (defence, power, renewables)
② Mass consumption revival (consumer spending ka bounce)
③ New economy sectors (digital, EVs, internet)
④ High-growth companies jo abhi fair valuations pe hain (11 stocks screen kiye gaye jinka next year ~31% earnings growth expect hai)
