From Building India to Powering It: Birla’s ₹1,800 Crore Bet

From Building India to Powering It: Birla’s ₹1,800 Crore Bet

The Aditya Birla Group has spent decades helping build India with cement.

Now, it wants to be part of what powers that growth.

Through UltraTech Cement, the group is entering the wires and cables business with an investment of around ₹1,800 crore under its new Ultravolt brand. ⚡

Why cables? India’s growing homes, factories, data centres and infrastructure projects are creating strong demand for electrical products.

But this won’t be an easy game. 👀

The market already has established players such as Polycab, KEI Industries and Havells.

Key things to watch:

• UltraTech’s huge dealer network

• Strong Aditya Birla brand

• Growing electricity & infrastructure demand

• Competition and possible pressure on margins

For UltraTech, this is more than just a new product category—it’s a bet on India’s long-term electrification story.

👉 Can Birla use its cement-business network to become a major player in cables too?
