India’s first high-speed rail project, the Mumbai–Ahmedabad bullet train corridor, has reached a major construction milestone with the successful tunnel breakthrough in Palghar district of Maharashtra, according to the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).
The breakthrough was achieved at a mountain tunnel located between the Virar and Boisar sections of the corridor. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw virtually witnessed the completion, marking it as the second tunnel breakthrough in Maharashtra for the project.
The Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor, spanning 508 kilometres, is being developed with technical and financial assistance from Japan. Once operational, the bullet train is expected to run at speeds of up to 320 kmph, reducing travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to just over two hours.
The Palghar tunnel breakthrough is considered a key engineering achievement, given the challenging terrain in the region. The project includes multiple tunnels, viaducts and bridges and is seen as a flagship infrastructure initiative aimed at modernising India’s rail network.
India ke pehle high-speed rail project, Mumbai–Ahmedabad bullet train corridor, ne ek bada construction milestone cross kiya hai. Maharashtra ke Palghar district mein mountain tunnel ka successful breakthrough achieve kiya gaya hai, jise National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) ne complete kiya.
Ye tunnel Virar aur Boisar section ke beech banayi ja rahi hai. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw ne is breakthrough ko virtually witness kiya, jo Maharashtra mein project ka second tunnel breakthrough hai.
508 km lamba Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor Japan ke technical aur financial support ke saath develop kiya ja raha hai. Project complete hone ke baad bullet train 320 kmph tak ki speed se chalegi, jisse Mumbai aur Ahmedabad ke beech travel time sirf 2 ghante se thoda zyada reh jaayega.
Palghar mein tunnel breakthrough ko ek important engineering achievement maana ja raha hai, kyunki is area ka terrain kaafi challenging hai. Ye project multiple tunnels, viaducts aur bridges ke saath India ke railway infrastructure ko modern banane ki direction mein ek flagship initiative hai.
