Khokan Chandra Das, a Hindu man from Bangladesh, has succumbed to severe burn injuries days after he was attacked and set on fire by miscreants, according to reports. The incident occurred on New Year’s Eve when Das was returning home after closing his shop.
He was allegedly assaulted, doused with petrol, and set ablaze. In an attempt to save himself, Das jumped into a nearby pond but sustained serious burns to multiple parts of his body. He was initially taken to a local hospital and later shifted to a specialised burn institute in Dhaka for advanced treatment.
Despite receiving medical care for several days, Das could not survive his injuries. His death has sparked outrage and renewed concerns over the safety of religious minorities in Bangladesh.
