Feb 1 Budget Turns Sunday into a Trading Day for Indian Stock Markets

The presentation of the Union Budget on February 1 will turn an otherwise non-trading Sunday into an active trading day for Indian stock markets. According to an NSE circular, equity markets will remain open on Sunday, February 1, to facilitate live market reaction to the Budget announcements.

Trading will take place during normal market hours, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, similar to regular weekday sessions. The special trading session will allow investors and market participants to respond immediately to policy measures, fiscal announcements, and economic reforms outlined in the Budget.

Such special trading sessions on Budget days have been conducted in the past as well, underlining the significance of the Union Budget for financial markets. Key sectors such as banking, infrastructure, capital goods, and taxation-linked stocks are expected to remain in focus during the session.

Market participants are closely watching the Budget for cues on government spending, fiscal consolidation, reforms, and growth-oriented measures, which could set the tone for market movements in the coming weeks.
