The Economic Survey 2025–26, presented in Parliament ahead of the Union Budget, highlighted that the global trade environment has shifted significantly, with traditional open markets giving way to strategic trade controls and export restrictions.
In this context, the survey argued that a Swadeshiapproach — focused on self-reliance and domestic capacity — is now a legitimate and necessary policy instrument to strengthen economic sovereignty and ensure continuity of production in the face of external shocks.
While the document stresses that Swadeshi should not become blanket protectionism, it recommends intelligent, time-bound support for strategic sectors where domestic production is feasible but hindered by coordination failures or regulatory barriers.
The approach aims to balance global integration with resilient domestic capability building.
In addition to the Swadeshi focus, the Economic Survey outlined India’s macroeconomic stability, projected robust GDP growth, and underscored the need for effective governance to sustain long-term economic development.
Parliament mein Union Budget se pehle pesh kiye gaye Economic Survey 2025–26 mein global trade ke badalte hue nature par focus kiya gaya. Survey ke mutabik, aaj ke time mein international trade pehle jaisa open aur reciprocal nahi raha, kyunki kai desh export controls aur protectionist policies apna rahe hain.
Is context mein Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) ne kaha ki ‘Swadeshi’ approach ab ek legitimate policy instrument ban chuka hai. Iska matlab hai ki India ko apni domestic manufacturing, supply chains aur strategic sectors ko strong banana hoga taaki external shocks ka impact kam ho.
Survey ne ye bhi clear kiya ki Swadeshi ka matlab blanket protectionism nahi hai. Balki ye ek smart, time-bound strategy honi chahiye jisme un sectors ko support mile jahan domestic production possible hai, lekin policy ya coordination issues ki wajah se growth slow hai.
Overall, Economic Survey ka message ye hai ki global integration ke saath-saath self-reliance bhi zaroori hai, taaki Indian economy long term mein resilient aur sustainable ban sake.
