Sensex, Nifty trade higher in early deals as India–US trade deal optimism fuels markets

Indian benchmark equity indices were trading with gains in early deals on Wednesday, building on a strong rally from the previous session after renewed optimism over a new India–United States trade agreement. The 30-share BSE Sensex edged higher by around 68 points in early trade, while the NSE Nifty50 was also in positive territory, supported by fresh foreign fund inflows and risk-on market sentiment.

Investors were reacting to reports that a framework for a trade pact between India and the U.S. could see tariffs slashed on Indian exports, lifting expectations for export-driven sectors and corporate earnings.

However, the early upside was partly moderated by weakness in information technology stocks amid a global tech sell-off. Broader indices such as mid-caps and small-caps were showing gains, reflecting a cautious but optimistic mood on Dalal Street.

The surge in equities also contributed to a significant increase in overall investor wealth, with market capitalisation rising sharply as markets rallied on the back of the trade deal outlook
