Adani Enterprises Plans Massive $100 Billion Investment by 2035 for Renewable-Powered AI-Ready Data Centres

Adani Enterprises Plans Massive $100 Billion Investment by 2035 for Renewable-Powered AI-Ready Data Centres

Adani Enterprises Ltd has unveiled an ambitious expansion plan that could reshape India’s technological and energy landscape. The company announced on Tuesday that it intends to invest approximately $100 billion by 2035 to build a network of renewable energy-powered, AI-ready data centres across the country.

Under the plan, Adani will leverage its existing strength in renewable energy to establish state-of-the-art data infrastructure capable of supporting next-generation artificial intelligence applications, cloud computing workloads and hyperscale enterprise demand. The initiative aligns with India’s broader push to position itself as a global hub for digital services and AI innovation.

Adani’s proposed data centre ecosystem is expected to draw on solar and wind power plants, integrating green energy generation directly with facility operations to ensure lower carbon emissions and reduced dependence on conventional power sources. This renewable-energy-first approach is aimed at addressing two key challenges facing the digital economy—energy intensity and sustainability.

Industry analysts suggest that the investment could attract global cloud service providers, large enterprise clients and AI research firms seeking reliable, scalable and eco-friendly data infrastructure. The data centres are also anticipated to bolster edge computing capabilities and reduce latency for AI applications in sectors such as healthcare, finance, logistics and smart cities.

“By combining large-scale renewable capacity with advanced data facilities, Adani is positioning India at the intersection of sustainable energy and next-generation computing,” said a technology sector analyst. “This could be a significant step in making India a preferred destination for AI computing workloads.”

The announcement comes at a time when demand for data storage and processing power is surging globally due to rapid AI adoption. Experts believe that having a domestic network of renewable-powered, AI-ready data centres could reduce India’s reliance on overseas infrastructure and help retain more digital value within the country.

While the project timeline spans more than a decade, the company has indicated that initial phases will begin within the next few years, with partnerships and technology collaborations being explored to accelerate development.

If executed successfully, the initiative could serve as a model for sustainable digital infrastructure not just in India, but across emerging markets seeking to balance technological growth with environmental responsibility.
