
India’s Q2 GDP Jumps 8.2% Despite Trump Tariffs, Highest in Six Quarters
India’s economy grew 8.2% in Q2 FY25-26, beating expectations and marking the fastest growth in six quarters — even with pressure from Trump’s U.S. tariffs.
The jump was driven by strong gains in manufacturing (9.1%), construction (7.2%), and a solid services sector (9.2%). Private consumption also improved, growing 7.9%.
GDP at constant prices rose to ₹48.63 lakh crore, while nominal GDP climbed to ₹85.25 lakh crore. Agriculture remained weak with 3.5% growth.
PM Modi called the numbers “very encouraging,” saying they reflect pro-growth reforms and people’s hard work.
With the first half of FY26 averaging 8% growth, India continues to be the world’s fastest-growing major economy.
