The government has taken strict action against IndiGo after widespread flight cancellations and operational disruptions over the past few days. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has directed the airline to reduce its scheduled flights by 10% with immediate effect to stabilise operations and prevent further chaos.
Officials stated that the measure is temporary but necessary, as IndiGo has been facing severe planning and scheduling issues. The ministry has instructed the airline to continue serving all destinations and ensure minimum inconvenience to passengers. IndiGo has also been asked to expedite refunds for cancelled flights.
Following the government’s directive, shares of InterGlobe Aviation, IndiGo’s parent company, slipped around 2% in early trade. Market experts say that while the flight cut may put short-term pressure on revenue, it is essential for restoring operational stability.
Brokerages have termed the government’s move a “required intervention” and noted that IndiGo must strengthen its manpower planning and operational management to avoid similar disruptions in the future.
The airline is expected to release a revised flight schedule soon.
The government ne IndiGo par kadam uthaaya hai after pichhle kuch dino se ho rahi widespread flight cancellations aur operational disruptions. Ministry of Civil Aviation ne airline ko turant effect se apni scheduled flights mein 10% cut karne ka order diya hai taaki operations stable ho sakein aur aage aur chaos na ho.
Officials ka kehna hai ki yeh step temporary hai, lekin zaroori bhi, kyunki IndiGo ko planning aur scheduling mein kaafi issues ka saamna karna pad raha tha. Ministry ne airline ko yeh bhi instruct kiya hai ki saare destinations ko service continue rakhein aur passengers ko minimum inconvenience ho. Saath hi, cancelled flights ke refunds jaldi process karne ko bhi kaha gaya hai.
Sarkari directive ke baad InterGlobe Aviation — jo IndiGo ki parent company hai — ke shares early trade mein lagbhag 2% gir gaye. Market experts ka kehna hai ki yeh flight cut short-term revenue pressure create karega, lekin operational stability laane ke liye yeh zaroori hai.
Brokerages ne is move ko “required intervention” bataya aur bola ki IndiGo ko apni manpower planning aur operational management ko strong banana hoga taaki future mein aise disruptions dobara na hon.
Airline jaldi hi apna revised flight schedule release karegi.
