IndiGo has started direct flights between Chennai and Réunion Island from April 29, 2026, becoming the first Indian airline to offer non-stop connectivity to the French overseas territory in the Indian Ocean.
The airline will operate this route three times a week using Airbus A320 aircraft. Flights from Chennai to Réunion Island will run on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, with flight 6E 1871 departing Chennai at 12:20 and arriving at 17:10. The return flight, 6E 1872, will leave Réunion Island at 18:10 and reach Chennai at 02:10 the next day.
This new route is expected to support tourism, business travel and family visits between India and Réunion Island. The island has around 300,000 people of Indian origin, which is more than one-third of its population.
IndiGo said tickets can be booked through its website, mobile app and authorised agents. The airline has also advised passengers to check visa requirements before travelling.
