
Japan’s Mizuho Securities, part of the Mizuho Financial Group, has agreed to acquire a controlling stake of over 60% in Indian investment bank Avendus Capital by purchasing the stake held by US-based private equity firm KKR. The transaction is valued at around ₹4,700–4,800 crore (about $520 million) and is subject to regulatory approvals.
Following the acquisition, Avendus Capital will become a subsidiary of Mizuho Securities, while continuing to operate under its existing brand and management. Founders Gaurav Deepak and Kaushal Aggarwal will continue to lead the firm. Co-founder Ranu Vohra is expected to exit his shareholding but remain with the company until the deal is completed.
The acquisition aligns with Mizuho’s strategy to strengthen its investment banking and capital markets presence in India, tapping into the country’s growing deal activity and financial services sector.
