Indian Rupee Hits Record Low Against Chinese Yuan! Why China Is Benefiting from Rupee Weakness

India is facing a new currency challenge as the Indian Rupee has fallen to a record low not only against the US Dollar but also against the Chinese Yuan.

🔹 The Rupee has reportedly weakened by nearly 8% against the Yuan since the beginning of 2026.

🔹 India imports a huge amount of goods from China, including electronics, mobile components, and solar equipment.

🔹 In FY25, India imported around $115-120 billion worth of goods from China, while exports to China were only about $14.5 billion, creating a massive trade deficit.

🔹 Rising crude oil prices and continued foreign investor selling have further increased pressure on the Rupee.

🔹 As the Yuan strengthens and the Rupee weakens, Chinese products become more expensive for Indian buyers.

🔹 This could lead to higher prices for smartphones, electronics, and several imported products in India.

📌 Reason

➡️ India imports much more from China than it exports, increasing demand for Yuan and putting pressure on the Rupee.

➡️ Higher oil prices and FII selling are increasing dollar demand, which is weakening the Indian currency further.

Do you think India should reduce its dependence on Chinese imports to protect the Rupee and the economy?
