
India's digital payment revolution continues to grow at a rapid pace. According to the latest NPCI data, UPI recorded a massive 23.2 billion transactions in May 2026, a 24% increase compared to the same period last year.
In simple terms, Indians are increasingly choosing digital payments over cash for everything from small tea stalls to large shopping malls. On average, nearly 75 crore transactions were processed every day during the month.
The growth of UPI is not limited to India. The platform is now live in countries such as the UAE, Singapore, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, France, Mauritius and Qatar, making digital payments easier for Indians abroad. This shows how India's homegrown payment system is becoming a global success story.

India ka digital payment system UPI lagataar naye records bana raha hai. NPCI ke latest data ke mutabik, May 2026 mein UPI ke zariye 2320 crore transactions hue, jo pichhle saal ke mukable 24% zyada hain.
Seedhi bhasha mein samjhein to chai ki tapri se lekar shopping mall tak, log cash ki jagah mobile se payment karna zyada pasand kar rahe hain. May mahine mein har din average 75 crore ke kareeb transactions hue, jo digital payments ki badhti popularity ko dikhata hai.
Sabse khaas baat yeh hai ki UPI ab sirf India tak simit nahi raha. UAE, Singapore, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, France aur Mauritius jaise kai deshon mein bhi UPI service shuru ho chuki hai. Yani Bharat ka yeh swadeshi payment system ab global level par apni pehchaan bana raha hai.
