A major update has emerged regarding the 8th Pay Commission. The Commission has extended the deadline for employee unions and pensioner groups to submit their suggestions till June 15, 2026.
What does this mean?
In simple terms, the Commission cannot finalize its recommendations until all suggestions are reviewed. This means the process may take more time, and employees may have to wait longer for revised salaries and pensions.
According to current timelines, experts believe the new pay structure could be implemented around April-May 2027. If approved, employees may also receive arrears from the date the new pay structure is made effective.
While a delay may mean a bigger arrear payout later, some allowances such as HRA may not always provide the same retrospective benefits.
