Meta’s AI Workplace Transformation Leader Emily Dalton Smith Resigns Amid Major AI Restructuring

Meta is facing another leadership change in its artificial intelligence division as Emily Dalton Smith, the executive leading the company's "AI for Work" transformation initiative, has decided to leave the company. Smith had been with Meta since 2015 and recently took charge of improving the company's internal AI systems and workplace automation efforts.

Her departure comes just months after Meta assigned her a key role in its ambitious AI restructuring program. The initiative focuses on developing AI agents capable of automating tasks traditionally handled by employees, helping Meta increase efficiency and accelerate AI adoption across the organization.

Smith's team was responsible for enhancing Meta's internal AI assistant, Metamate, and creating tools that could transform how employees work. The restructuring has also involved workforce reductions, employee reassignments, and significant organizational changes as CEO Mark Zuckerberg pushes aggressively toward an AI-first future.

Industry experts view her exit as another sign of the intense pressure and rapid changes taking place across the AI sector, where companies are racing to build advanced AI systems while reshaping their workforce and operations.

Do you think AI-driven workplace transformation will create more jobs or eliminate more jobs in the future?
