India Needs Its Own DeepSeek-Like AI Model, Says Bernstein

Global brokerage Bernstein believes India should develop its own advanced AI models instead of relying heavily on American AI platforms.

According to the report, dependence on foreign AI models could create long-term risks related to technology access, costs, and digital sovereignty. Experts argue that countries need greater control over the AI systems they use, especially as AI becomes a critical part of businesses, government services, and daily life.

The report highlights that India has the talent, market size, and growing AI ecosystem needed to build world-class AI models. Developing indigenous AI technology could help India reduce dependence on global tech giants and strengthen its position in the AI race.

Should India build its own AI model instead of depending on foreign AI companies?
