India has reportedly invoked emergency measures and asked domestic oil refiners to increase LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) production to prevent a possible cooking gas shortage amid escalating tensions linked to the US-Iran conflict.
The government is concerned that disruptions in global energy supply chains could affect LPG imports, which are crucial for India as the country relies heavily on imported cooking gas. India is currently the second-largest LPG importer in the world, consuming more than 33 million metric tonnes annually.
Due to the geopolitical situation, authorities have directed refiners to ramp up domestic production while also exploring alternative sources of LPG and LNG to ensure stable supply. The move aims to prevent shortages and keep cooking gas available for households across the country.
Experts say the conflict in West Asia could disrupt energy shipments and increase price volatility, which is why India is preparing contingency plans to secure its fuel supply.
US-Iran conflict ke beech India ne emergency steps activate kar diye hain aur domestic oil refiners ko LPG production badhane ke liye kaha gaya hai, taaki desh mein cooking gas ki shortage na ho.
Government ko concern hai ki global energy supply chain mein disruption hone se LPG imports par impact pad sakta hai. India duniya ka second-largest LPG importer hai aur har saal 33 million metric tonnes se zyada LPG consume karta hai.
Isi wajah se authorities ne refiners ko domestic LPG production badhane ka direction diya hai aur saath hi alternative LPG aur LNG sources bhi explore kiye ja rahe hain, taaki supply stable rahe aur households ko cooking gas ki problem na ho.
Experts ka maanna hai ki agar West Asia conflict lamba chalta hai to global energy market mein volatility aur supply disruption ka risk badh sakta hai.
