
The Indian government has sought approval from the Lok Sabha for gross additional expenditure of about ₹2.81 lakh crore during the current financial year. The request was presented through the second batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants by Nirmala Sitharaman.
According to official documents, the total proposed additional expenditure is ₹2,81,289.26 crore. Out of this, around ₹2,01,142.96 crore will involve a net cash outgo, while about ₹80,145.71 crore will be adjusted through savings, higher receipts, or recoveries by different ministries and departments.
Supplementary Demands for Grants are typically presented when government departments require funds beyond what was approved in the annual budget. Parliamentary approval is necessary before the government can withdraw these funds from the Consolidated Fund of India.
The proposal highlights the government’s need to adjust spending allocations during the financial year to meet evolving administrative and economic requirements.

Supplementary Demands for Grants tab laaye jaate hain jab government ko budget mein allocate kiye gaye funds se zyada paisa kisi financial year mein kharch karna padta hai. Aise cases mein Parliament ki approval zaroori hoti hai.
