Airlines Hike Ticket Prices as Middle East Conflict Pushes Jet Fuel Costs Higher
Airlines around the world are raising ticket prices as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has pushed jet fuel costs sharply higher. The surge in aviation turbine fuel prices has significantly increased operational expenses for airlines, forcing many carriers to introduce fuel surcharges and higher fares. Several airlines have already announced fare hikes to offset the rising fuel costs. For instance, some carriers have started imposing additional fuel surcharges on tickets, while others are gradually increasing base ticket prices on both domestic and international routes. Industry experts say the conflict has disrupted global oil supply chains, driving crude oil prices higher and making aviation fuel more expensive. Airlines are therefore passing a part of the increased cost on to passengers to maintain profitability. In addition to higher fuel prices, airlines are also facing route disruptions and airspace restrictions in parts of the Middle East, which are forcing flights to take longer alternate routes. This further increases fuel consumption and operational costs for carriers. Analysts warn that if geopolitical tensions continue and oil prices remain elevated, airfares could rise further in the coming months, potentially impacting global travel demand and tourism.
