Partial Flight Resumptions from Dubai Restore Some Global Gold Flows After War Disruptions
The partial resumption of flights from Dubai has allowed some gold shipments to restart from one of the world’s most important bullion trading hubs. Gold deliveries had been severely disrupted after the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran triggered widespread flight cancellations across the Middle East. Dubai plays a key role in the global gold trade, acting as a major transit hub for shipments moving to markets such as India, Switzerland, and Hong Kong. Because gold has a high value relative to its weight, it is typically transported by air, making the aviation disruption a major obstacle for bullion logistics. Although flights have started operating again, air traffic remains limited, with only a fraction of normal services running. The reduced capacity has increased insurance and transportation costs, slowing the recovery of gold supply chains. Market participants say the disruption has also impacted demand in major consuming countries like India, where traders expect weaker demand and price discounts compared with international markets until logistics fully normalize.
