Prime Minister Narendra Modi has raised serious concerns over the ongoing West Asia crisis, calling the situation “worrisome” and warning of major economic and security risks for India.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, he highlighted that the conflict is impacting the global economy, energy supply, and trade routes. Since a large portion of India’s oil and gas imports passes through this region, any disruption could directly affect the country’s economy.
PM Modi also stressed that nearly 1 crore Indians live and work in Gulf countries, making their safety a top priority for the government. He assured that India is closely monitoring the situation, including key routes like the Strait of Hormuz, and taking necessary steps to protect its citizens.
He added that the crisis poses economic, national security, and humanitarian challenges, and India must stay prepared—similar to the COVID-19 period—to handle long-term impacts.
