7th India-Flagged LPG Tanker ‘Green Sanvi’ Crosses Strait of Hormuz Amid Ongoing Crisis

India received a major relief as its 7th LPG tanker, Green Sanvi, successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz, despite ongoing tensions in the Middle East. The tanker was carrying around 44,000–46,000 tonnes of LPG, which is crucial for India’s domestic energy supply.

This development is significant because the Strait of Hormuz—through which a large portion of global oil and gas passes—has been facing serious disruptions due to geopolitical conflict. Ship movement in the region is still tightly controlled, with vessels required to coordinate closely with Iranian authorities for safe passage.

So far, seven Indian LPG carriers have managed to cross the strait, while many more ships are still waiting for clearance. Experts say this steady movement of tankers is helping India avoid a deeper energy crisis, as the country heavily depends on LPG imports from the Middle East.

The successful transit of Green Sanvi highlights both the risks and resilience of India’s energy supply chain during one of the most tense geopolitical situations in recent times.

❓ Do you think India’s energy security is at risk due to Middle East tensions, or is the situation under control?
