India Likely to See Weaker Monsoon in 2026: Skymet Forecast Raises Concerns

India is expected to witness a below-normal monsoon in 2026, according to private weather agency Skymet. The forecast suggests rainfall may be around 94% of the long-period average, mainly due to the impact of the El Niño weather pattern.

Experts believe that the monsoon may start on a stable note but weaken in the second half (July–September), which is crucial for agriculture and water storage. This raises concerns about crop production, rural income, and inflation, as a large part of India still depends heavily on monsoon rains.

Do you think a weak monsoon can significantly impact India’s stock market and economy in 2026?
