Indian Rupee Trades Mixed vs US Dollar as Forex Markets React to Geopolitical & Policy Cues

The Indian rupee showed mixed movement against the US dollar in the forex markets on April 9, 2026, as traders reacted to global geopolitical developments and domestic policy signals.

Recent volatility stems from uncertainty around the US-Iran conflict, which has influenced crude oil prices and risk sentiment globally. At the same time, the Reserve Bank of India has taken regulatory measures to curb excessive speculative activity in currency markets, helping to reduce sharp swings and stabilize the rupee.

On April 8, the rupee strengthened by about 52 paise to around ₹92.54 per US dollar, as investor confidence improved temporarily after geopolitical developments and the RBI’s policy stance.

Analysts say the currency is likely to remain range-bound, influenced by global risk sentiment, oil price trends, and central bank actions.

Do you think the rupee will strengthen further against the dollar in the coming weeks, or could global risks push it weaker again?
