Can Trump’s Iran Blockade Push India Into an ‘Everything Crisis’? Here’s the Reality

The recent announcement of a US-led blockade on Iranian oil has raised serious concerns about whether India could face an “everything crisis” — a situation where fuel, inflation, currency, and growth all come under pressure simultaneously.

Since India imports nearly 90% of its crude oil, any disruption in global supply — especially through the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil route — can significantly impact the economy. Rising oil prices can lead to higher inflation, a weaker rupee, and increased fiscal pressure.

However, experts believe that India is better prepared this time. The government and policymakers have taken steps like diversifying oil imports, maintaining strategic reserves, and using RBI interventions to stabilize the currency.

Despite global tensions and oil price spikes, India has so far managed to avoid a major crisis. Supply chains remain stable, and inflation is still within the RBI’s manageable range.

That said, risks are still present. If the conflict escalates further or oil prices remain high for a prolonged period, India could still face economic pressure in the coming months.

Do you think India is strong enough to handle this crisis, or is a bigger economic shock coming?
