Air India Rolls Out Premium Makeover: New Cabins, Lounges & Aircraft to Drive Higher Revenue

Air India has started a major premium transformation drive aimed at attracting high-value travelers and boosting profitability. The airline is investing around $400 million (₹3,622 crore) to upgrade its in-flight experience, especially on older Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft.

As part of this makeover, passengers will see brand-new cabin interiors, upgraded seats, refreshed upholstery, advanced in-flight entertainment systems, and improved cabin aesthetics. The airline is also expanding its Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabin offerings across more aircraft.

Air India is also focusing heavily on the airport experience, with premium lounges and better ground services being introduced to compete with leading global carriers. This move is part of the Tata Group’s larger plan to reposition the airline as a world-class premium full-service carrier.

The company has already begun inducting new Dreamliners and A350 aircraft, which come with modern three-class layouts and enhanced comfort features. This premium push is expected to improve both customer satisfaction and revenue per passenger.

Do you think Air India’s premium makeover can help it compete with global airlines like Emirates and Singapore Airlines?
