Following BJP’s historic victory in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari has officially taken oath as the state’s first BJP Chief Minister. Soon after the swearing-in, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) launched a sharp attack on both the BJP and the Election Commission.
TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee alleged irregularities in the election process and accused the Election Commission of acting in a biased manner. The party also raised concerns over post-poll violence and alleged misuse of institutions.
Meanwhile, the BJP has described the result as a “historic political shift” in Bengal. The party secured a massive majority in the 2026 assembly elections, ending the 15-year rule of Mamata Banerjee and the TMC government. Banerjee has also questioned the election outcome, saying it did not reflect the “true public mandate.”
