India’s Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Oman is expected to come into effect from June 1, 2026, according to Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. The agreement is expected to provide duty-free access to nearly 98% of Indian exports to Oman, including textiles, agriculture products, and leather goods.
In return, India will reduce tariffs on selected Omani products such as dates, marble, and petrochemical items. The government believes the deal will strengthen trade relations, improve supply chain integration, and open new opportunities for Indian exporters in the Gulf region.
At the same time, India’s proposed trade agreement with Chile is facing hurdles due to differences in the size of both economies and trade expectations. However, discussions are still ongoing, especially around securing access to critical minerals like lithium and copper, which are essential for India’s electronics, EV, and solar industries.
Reports suggest Chile’s massive lithium reserves could become strategically important for India as the country focuses on clean energy and electric vehicle expansion.
Do you think India’s focus on FTAs and critical minerals can strengthen the country’s long-term economic growth?
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal ke mutabik India aur Oman ke beech Free Trade Agreement (FTA) 1 June 2026 se lagu ho sakta hai. Is deal ke baad India ke lagbhag 98% exports ko Oman mein duty-free access mil sakta hai, jisme textiles, agriculture aur leather products shamil hain.
Dusri taraf India Oman ke kuch products jaise dates, marble aur petrochemical items par import tariffs kam karega. Government ka maanna hai ki is agreement se Gulf region mein India ka trade aur strong hoga aur exporters ko naye opportunities milenge.
Saath hi India aur Chile ke beech proposed trade deal mein kuch challenges bhi saamne aa rahe hain. Dono economies ke size aur opportunities mein difference hone ki wajah se negotiations slow chal rahi hain. Lekin lithium aur copper jaise critical minerals ko lekar discussions abhi bhi continue hain.
Experts ka maanna hai ki Chile ke huge lithium reserves future mein India ke EV, electronics aur clean energy sector ke liye kaafi important ho sakte hain.
Aapke hisaab se India ko FTAs aur critical minerals par focus karna future growth ke liye kitna important hai?
