Sensex Rebounds Over 400 Points, Nifty Crosses 23,500 Despite Weak Rupee Concerns

Indian stock markets staged a strong recovery on May 14, with the BSE Sensex rising more than 400 points and the Nifty 50 moving above the 23,500 mark. The rebound came after recent heavy selling, as investors returned to value buying in quality stocks at lower levels.

Market sentiment improved mainly due to buying in pharma, metal, and infrastructure stocks. Companies like Cipla, Adani Enterprises, and several PSU-related stocks witnessed strong momentum during the session. Meanwhile, IT stocks remained under pressure as concerns over global growth and currency volatility continued to impact the sector.

Despite the recovery, investors remain cautious because the Indian rupee recently hit a record low against the US dollar, while crude oil prices continue to remain elevated due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) have also continued selling Indian equities, adding uncertainty to market direction.

Experts believe that the market may remain volatile in the coming weeks as investors closely monitor RBI intervention, oil prices, global economic signals, and developments around the Strait of Hormuz crisis. However, selective value buying at lower levels is currently helping markets stabilize.

Do you think this market rebound is the start of a fresh rally or just a temporary recovery before another correction?
