Your Swiggy & Zomato Orders May Soon Get Costlier As Fuel Prices Rise Across India

Online food delivery may soon become more expensive for customers using apps like Swiggy and Zomato. Rising fuel prices across India are increasing delivery costs for restaurants and delivery partners, which could eventually lead to higher delivery charges and food prices for consumers.

Reports suggest that logistics and transportation expenses have started rising significantly due to increasing petrol and diesel costs. Since food delivery platforms heavily depend on delivery fleets, any rise in fuel prices directly impacts operational costs. Restaurants are also facing pressure from higher raw material and transportation expenses, adding to the overall burden.

Industry experts believe that platforms may either increase delivery fees, introduce surge pricing during peak hours, or restaurants may slightly raise menu prices to manage margins. This comes at a time when consumers are already dealing with inflation in everyday expenses.

Despite this, food delivery demand in India continues to remain strong, especially in metro cities where convenience-driven ordering has become a habit for many users.

If delivery charges increase further, will you still order online frequently or shift back to dining out/home cooking?
