IT Stocks Rebound After AI-Fuelled Selloff; TCS, Wipro, HCL Tech Show Recovery Amid Mixed Outlook

IT Stocks Rebound After AI-Fuelled Selloff; TCS, Wipro, HCL Tech Show Recovery Amid Mixed Outlook

Indian information technology stocks bounced back after a brutal selloff that wiped out significant market value in recent sessions, triggered by fears of artificial intelligence disruption.

Major names including Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro and HCL Technologies saw a rebound in share prices as investor sentiment began to stabilise, following sharp declines in the Nifty IT index over the past week.

The recent downturn, fuelled by concerns that rapid advancements in AI could reshape the traditional outsourcing model of the Indian IT services sector, had led to a selloff worth approximately ₹4.85 lakh crore over nine sessions, pushing key stocks to multi-month and near 52-week lows.

However, in early trade, several IT counters showed signs of recovery, with investors taking advantage of lower valuations. Analysts note that while short-term volatility remains due to mixed global cues and the evolving AI narrative, some market participants see value in beaten-down names as long-term demand fundamentals remain intact.

Despite the rebound, broader sentiment on the sector remains cautious with varied views among brokers and fund managers about the pace of recovery and the structural impact of AI on future revenue streams.
